I'm Thankful For: Glittery Tights and Michelle Obama
From being in the presence of Michelle Obama to Frank Ocean’s glittery behind, 2017 has brought some great moments despite all of the bad. I compiled a short list of 7 things I’m grateful for from 2017.
1. Seeing Michelle Obama
On October 3, 2017, I was able to go to the 13th annual Pennsylvania Women’s Conference. Michelle Obama was interviewed by Shonda Rhymes, where they had a back and forth conversation, laying out the real problems in the U.S., and life after the presidency. I can’t believe that I breathed the same air as her.
2. Jordan Peele’s “Get Out”
Jordan Peele’s “Get Out” is the horror movie of my dreams. It was hilarious, riveting and very intense. “Get Out” is one of my favorite horror films, categorized as a social thriller. I’m excited to see what Peele has in store for us next.
3. Frank Ocean’s Gucci Sparkles
Need I say more? As Frank Ocean celebrated his 30th birthday, he wore a pair of $3,980 Gucci Women’s Crystal Tights. A look.
4. Beyonce’s Maternity Photo
The most liked picture on Instagram, gaining 7.2 million double-taps under 20 hours. I think it’s safe to say Beyonce runs social media.
5. Tyler, the Creator’s “Flower Boy”
Released on July 21, 2017, Flower Boy is Tyler, the Creator’s most cohesive and beautifully mastered album to date. You can see the growth in Tyler through his lyricism, honesty, and melodic flow over his self-made beats.
6. Kendrick Lamar’s “DAMN.”
Kendrick Lamar’s fourth studio album makes listeners say “damn.” after a full listen through. Kendrick Lamar never ceases to amaze me, or others. This release went double platinum after just 3 months.
7. Fenty Beauty
Last but not least, Rihanna’s release of her very own makeup brand “Fenty Beauty.” This is the most excited I have ever been to buy makeup. With Rihanna’s attention to inclusivity of all skin tones, how can you not love this brand? I’ve tried several of the products myself and I must say it is completely worth the hype.
